Assigned to the Adult Day Service program located at 2497 7th Avenue East in North St. Paul.

Our Direct Support Professionals working at the Adult Day Services Program focus on meeting the needs of individuals with disabilities who are aging, offering positive supports to persons who may exhibit challenges, building relationships, facilitating the use of assistive technology, and offering desiring creative activities that promote a healthy, safe, and fun environment.

Specific duties include:

  • Complying with Adult Day Care standards by providing support to 38+ ADS clients so that they are engaged in meaningful activities on a daily basis;
  • Providing input into the ADS clients’ Individual Care Plans, person-centered and person-futures planning assessments, quarterly reports, activity schedules, etc.
  • Supporting activities and strategies related to the person-centered planning process, aging, dementia, assistive technology, challenging behaviors, etc.
  • Completing required documentation;
  • Following the health and fitness requirements of the ADS clients as recommended by the dietician and physical therapist; and
  • Promoting person-centered thinking, futures planning, community and relationship building, and assistive technology.

Qualified candidates must possess the following:

  • A minimum of a high school diploma or GED..  A community college AA degree, technical school degree, Human Services degree, or a four year Bachelor of Arts/Science degree is preferred;
  • A minimum of six to 12 months of work experience supporting individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities and dementia/Alzheimer’s; 
  • A strong commitment to self-advocacy principles, person-centered planning, assistive technology, and positive supports to person who are aging and may exhibit challenging behaviors; 
  • A calm demeanor and even temperament to respond effectively to persons who may become frustrated, confused, noncompliant, and/or aggressive.
  • Comfortable and respectful when assisting individuals with personal cares;
  • Meet the physical demands of the position, with or without a reasonable accommodation, including regularly standing, walking, and bending as well as lifting up to 50 pounds;  and
  • Basic computer and data entry skills;

Candidates must also pass a criminal background check, a motor vehicle record check, and drug screen. 

This is a part-time position working Monday through Friday for a total of 27.5 hours per week (day hours), and is not eligible for benefits The hourly rate of pay for this position starts at $13.19 per hour and could be more based on education and relevant work experience.  In addition, new hires are eligible to receive a $500.00 bonus once they complete their training period and another $500.00 bonus following their 9th month of employment!
