Merrick, Inc., is actively recruiting for a Staff Training & Recruitment Specialist.  This newly created position will be responsible for managing the full-cycle non-exempt staff recruitment/selection process and coordinating the company’s onboarding process and ongoing training programs.     

 

Specific duties of the Staff Training & Recruitment Specialist include:

 

  • Utilizing both traditional and nontraditional recruiting resources such as web-based postings, social media platforms, career fairs, mailings, creative advertising, etc. to post job announcements and attract qualified candidates;
  • Recruiting, interviewing, and participating in the selection of all non-exempt positions, including developing the interview outline, reviewing applications/resumes, scheduling interviews with viable candidates  and the appropriate manager(s), extending job offers/sending rejection letters, and conducting all pre-employment checks following a conditional job offer;
  • Partnering with directors and managers to evaluate current and future staffing needs and ensuring position descriptions are up-to-date, and performance evaluation documents are measuring completion of job duties;
  • Managing applicant files and compiling hiring and staffing metrics;
  • Managing the internal sub pool and acting as the primary company contact with external temporary/staffing agencies;
  • Coordinating and conducting effective new hire training and orientation, and creating a positive onboarding experience;
  • Researching, coordinating, and scheduling external presenters and identify resources needed for specialized training and/or individualized development plans;
  • As assigned, creating and conducting assigned training and development programs, presenting the information using a variety of formats and identifying/creating training materials;
  • Identifying current and future training needs through regular consultation with directors and managers, the identification of employee needs and interests, assessment of regulatory demands, best practices, etc.;
  • Maintaining a database of curriculum, training materials, and individual training records, monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of training and development programs, and making revisions as needed;
  • As assigned, coordinating interagency training and registration; and
  • Managing the staff recruitment and training budgets and regularly monitoring expenditures.

 

Candidates need to meet the following qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field.  Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and HR certification is preferred;
  • A minimum of two years of experience in recruitment and staff training/development oversight, preferably in the nonprofit sector. Demonstrated knowledge of federal/state laws relative to recruitment and employment practices.  Highly proficient in using social media platforms as a viable recruitment tool for attracting both active and passive candidates.  Demonstrated ability to identify and coordinate training needs and objectives;
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills with the ability to interface with all levels of the company.  Exceptional organizational and recordkeeping skills and demonstrated commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality;

  • Have a valid class “D” state driver’s license and clean driving record; and
  • Ability to pass criminal background checks and drug/alcohol tests following a conditional job offer as well as throughout the course of employment.

 

This is a full-time position, typically working Monday through Friday (day hours), and is benefit eligible.  In addition, the new hire will be eligible to receive a $500.00 bonus once he/she completes their training period and another $500.00 bonus following their 9th month of employment.
