Vadnais Heights based Merrick, Inc., Participating in Fourth Annual Give to the Max Day on Nov. 15

Adults with disabilities will benefit from online donations through GiveMN.org

Vadnais Heights, MNNovember 2, 2012 – Merrick, Inc.,  www.MerrickInc.org is one of many nonprofit organizations throughout the state that will once again ask Minnesotans to display their record-breaking generosity by donating to their favorite charities and schools online at www.GiveMN.org during the fourth annual “Give to the Max Day” on November 15.

“Last year we had a generous $2,000 matching grant from Kowalski’s Markets that we were pleased was met resulting in over $4,000 in giving on Give to the Max Day 2011,” said Mike Greenbaum, Finance and Development Director. “Kowalski’s Markets has once again stepped up to the plate with a $2,000 matching grant and we are putting this year’s funds toward the recently opened Adult Day and Memory Care Services program in North St. Paul.”

Money donated to Merrick, Inc., will directly benefit its mission to empower adults with disabilities through vocational and social opportunities, and guide them toward realizing their goals and dreams. Through our donation page, http://www.razoo.com/Merrickinc supporters can choose specific giving of items to benefit the clients in the Adult Day and Memory Care Services program such as memory-enhancing puzzles and games, sponsoring clients on a local outing, or contributing toward the purchase of a new lift-chair recliner to make resting and relaxing and then getting back up again easier for aging and mobility challenged clients.

“We set single-day records for philanthropic giving in 2009, 2010 and 2011, and want to keep that streak going in 2012,” said Dana Nelson, executive director of GiveMN, which debuted in fall 2009 as the first-of-its-kind giving website and sponsors Give to the Max Day. “This is a day for us to come together as Minnesotans and show our support for the nonprofit organizations and schools that work to strengthen our communities.”

During last year’s Give to the Max Day, 47,534 donors logged on to GiveMN.org. The result: $13.4 million raised for 3,978 Minnesota nonprofits, whose missions range from feeding the hungry, to protecting the environment, to promoting the arts. GiveMN hopes to again raise millions of dollars for thousands of nonprofits and schools, showcasing Minnesota’s unparalleled generosity to the world.

2012 Give to the Max Day Incentives

In 2012, GiveMN will offer several incentives to encourage donor participation in Give to the Max Day. North Metro community members can support Merrick, Inc.,  and other local nonprofits and schools for an opportunity to win prize grants up to $12,500 as top donation earners. During Give to the Max Day 2012 Merrick, Inc., will be eligible for prize grants in the form of hourly “Golden Tickets” – an hourly drawing to add $1,000 to a donor’s donation, randomly selected from donors who gave during each hour of the event. One donor giving to a nonprofit and one donor to a K-12 public school will be drawn in the evening for a Super-sized Golden Ticket of $10,000 added to their donations.

GiveMN is powered by Razoo, a critical partner in making Give to the Max Day a success. Razoo is a venture funded social enterprise committed to transforming people's lives through meaningful giving. Its secure online platform facilitates crowdsourced fundraising, streamlines the donation process and offers a suite of free and easy-to-use fundraising tools that inspire individuals and nonprofits to give and fundraise online.
