Experienced professionals bring track record of successes and diverse backgrounds

Merrick, Inc., a Vadnais Heights based nonprofit with the mission to empower adults with disabilities through vocational and social opportunities, welcomed new Trustees: Donika P. Pentcheva and Dr. Tanmay Barman Roy at its annual meeting on December 12. Ms. Pentcheva and Dr. Roy join an active group of 16 volunteer Trustees who are charged with defining the mission, strategic direction, and future programming; establishing policies and procedures; monitoring the effective and efficient use of fiscal resources; and evaluating the overall performance of the organization which provides pre-vocational and life enrichment opportunities to nearly 375 adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities.


“The success of our organization is built upon a strong foundation of active and engaged Trustees,” said Merrick Executive Director John Wayne Barker. “We have a long history of successful Board governance and extend a warm welcome to our new Trustees Ms. Pentcheva and Dr. Roy. Along with welcoming these two, we bid farewell to Julie Manning, Ashley Wenger, and Board Vice-President and long-time supporter Betsy Wuebker and wish Betsy well as she transitions to island life in Hawaii."


Donika P. Pentcheva is experienced in all aspects of intellectual property portfolio management, including preparation, litigation and enforcement. Donika graduated from the University of Saint Thomas where she developed modules and software for use with Mathematica®, MATLAB®, and Maple®. Donika holds a law degree from William Mitchell College of Law with focused coursework on international intellectual property law. Donika is licensed to practice law in the State of Minnesota. A native of Bulgaria, Donika is fluent in Bulgarian


A Physician MBA/MHA by background, Dr. Roy has more than twelve years of experience as a healthcare management consultant and as a practicing physician. He has been a part of the management consulting practice at leading global consulting firms - Deloitte Consulting, Accenture and Cap Gemini Ernst & Young where he has helped more than 40 healthcare organizations including some of the leading hospitals, integrated health systems and health plans in the areas of business strategy, operations, clinical care delivery and new product/service launch. Dr. Roy is a licensed physician and has previously practiced medicine in various academic hospitals. He further obtained his MBA and MHA with distinction from the University of Minnesota and completed a program in Healthcare Information Technology at Harvard University School of Public Health.
