Larry’s journey with Merrick began in 2018. Like many clients, he started on the work floor, where he was assigned a variety of assembly, packaging, and kitting projects. From day one, Larry was eager to prove himself to be a valued member of Merrick’s workforce.  

As staff got to know Larry, they quickly recognized that learning some work-floor tasks would require some extra time and patience. Due to paralysis on the right side of his body, Larry completes tasks using only his left hand. While many of his peers perform assembly work with two hands, Larry accomplishes the same task one-handed. 

While staff saw the challenges he faced, Larry saw something different. For him, adapting to tasks was simply part of everyday life. He never minded taking longer to complete a project. What mattered most was having the opportunity to do the work.
